Happiness. It is my belief that this is one of the most sought after sensations in life, whether it be in our professional lives, romantic lives, family lives, etc… the final objective is Happiness. In this day and age, I think it’s fair to say that happiness SEEMS easier to attain, but given the magnitude of stimulants and distractions at our fingertips, it’s very easy to confuse happiness for temporary elation. But where does happiness come from? This is a very difficult question to answer because we must first look at the definition of happiness which is, simply, the state of being happy. A cop out answer if you ask me, but I understand why they chose to phrase it this way because happiness is unable to truly be defined. I had to refer to it as a sensation earlier because it’s difficult to even call it a “feeling” just because most other feelings we can describe where they come from, but much like taste, touch, and smell it’s a sense that is purely based on the perception of the person experiencing it. In that what tastes bad or feels gross to one person, may bring the opposite response to another. Same goes with happiness I think, granted we all to an extent share the same SENSE of what it is to be happy, but the things that make me happy could possibly only fill you with displeasure. So this week’s question is one of the more personal we’ve asked here, what makes YOU happy? Whether you want to think on a day-to-day basis or more long term in regards to what would bring happiness to your life overall. Let us know in the comments below, and not only what makes you happy, but what part you play in your own happiness, because a lot of us, myself included, are in search of happiness but are still in the phase of life in trying to figure out exactly what it is that makes US happy and how to keep it in our lives once we have it.
