[Art] Visual Artist Feature: Erica Puckett
Erica Puckett is a self-taught artist who shares her creative visions through the stroke of her paintbrush with E. Puckett Art. As a self-taught artist, she initially picked up her paint brush for its stress relieving qualities. Soon after she discovered a voice and purpose through the subjects she painted. Her work can be described as bold, vibrant, and thought-provoking, as she incorporates ideas that range from reflecting an appreciation of Afrocentric beauty, to voicing support of protests against social injustice.
Erica calls 3rd Ward, Houston, TX home; however, her creativity has also been influenced by the time she spent partially growing up in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Austin. She holds a B.A. in both History, and African & African Diaspora Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Erica currently lives in Newark, NJ, and is completing her final year of studies at Rutgers School of Law.
