We’ve all been in a situation where we’ve felt compelled to just walk away, but something stops us from doing just that. We get so caught up in the routine of our everyday lives and we become dependent upon that routine to keep everything afloat. But what about when these situations become toxic? What happens when you become so fed up with the people and places that provide the stability that you need? This could be regarding your job, your family, school, friendships, etc. How do you walk away from something that you need but don’t necessarily want?

Just recently, a situation that I depend on for stability has become toxic, and admittedly, I don’t know how to just walk away and that is because of my needs rather than my wants. In my mind, I have imagined just walking away from it all but then logic creeps in and reminds me of everything that’s at stake. In all honesty, that sucks. Because now I feel stuck and I’ve always been taught that feeling “stuck” means that it’s time to go. It’s just not that easy because the truth is, I know that it’s time to walk away, but logically, I cannot.

What would you do in this situation, when your heart and your mind are battling it out? How do you know when it’s time to walk away from something that’s keeping you afloat but doesn’t satisfy you or make you happy?
