[Question of the Day] Do You Think The Settlement Oscar Grant’s Friends and Family Received Was Fair In Return For His Murder?

1075422_10151767138471206_1587551837_oOscar Grant was fatally shot by a BART transit police officer on the early morning of new years in 2009 in Oakland, CA. Proper justice for this young man in my opinion has yet to be established. Five friends who accompanied Oscar Grant the night of the murder originally filed a civil rights lawsuit for the use of excessive force and illegal detainment in the amount of 1.5 million in 2009. As of  May 8th of this year the BART board approved their settlement and they settled to split 175,000 amongst the five of them. Oscar’s family also were granted financial settlements. Even though they may be relieved that this part of the process is over, could they ever heal from the traumatic loss of a friend and family member? Does money heal all wounds? I think not. We need justice in its entirety. What do you think?
