Just recently, I made the decision to let go of some anger that was haunting me for months. I had spent so much time being angry at a person and the situation surrounding them that I forgot what it was like to genuinely like this person. Every time that I would hear this person’s name, I would see red. It is in our nature as human beings to get upset or mad at someone if you feel that they betrayed you or caused some sort of emotional damage. In fact, it would be strange if we didn’t feel that way. But, how long do we hold on to those feelings before they start to consume us? At what point do we take a step back and look at the bigger picture. And you may be wondering what the bigger picture is? Well, the bigger picture is that…

BEING ANGRY DOES NOT SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS.

That’s right. Anger doesn’t solve problems, it creates problems. It turns small problems into bigger problems and big problems into even bigger problems. Anger consumes you. It creates an ever growing negativity, not just with yourself, but with others as well. You start to resent those who interact with or are friendly to the person that you are angry with. You push that anger onto the people closest to that person which, in turn, causes others to be angry with you. It’s a never ending, and quite exhausting, cycle.

So, here’s some advice: Let it Go. This is not to say that it’s wrong to be angry, but sometimes it’s best to just let go and let God. Because ultimately, the outcome of the situation is up to him. Negativity is contagious and it spreads quickly. It’s not healthy to hold on to things. So don’t.

It took me a long time to let go of my resentment for this person and to accept them back into my life, but I feel lighter. That negative energy that was weighing me down is gone. Honestly, I feel like a better person for making that decision because now I can work on mending the broken relationship and getting back to being the way that we were before. You’d be amazed at how easy it is to let that anger go. That’s because you’ve grown tired of it. Mentally, you’ve exhausted that part of your brain that holds that anger.

Call up your old friend or your cousin that you haven’t talked to in a while. Pay them a visit and just sit down and hash out the differences. The relief afterward is life changing

Best of Luck,
